Roma, 23 aprile – Nasce da un esposto del presidente dell’Aias, Salvatore Nicitra, l’inchiesta che ha svelato maltrattamenti nella struttura di assistenza per disabili di Brancaccio e che ha portato a tre arresti. Alcuni psicologi della struttura gli avevano riferito di lesioni e traumi riscontrati in un assistito del centro. Nicitra, che da anni lavora per i disabili, con tanto di relazione, si è presentato dai militari per chiedere di fare luce su quanto accadeva nella struttura. Le telecamere installate dalle forze dell’ordine hanno mostrato una lunga serie di violenze e vessazioni psicologiche messe in atto dagli operatori che dovevano avere cura e assistere i pazienti. “Te lo giuro non mi importa della telecamera e ti riempio di botte”, gridava uno dei tre operatori del centro per disabili di Palermo finito agli arresti domiciliari per maltrattamenti. Le indagini dei carabinieri hanno svelato violenze di ogni genere. Gli indagati pestavano gli assistiti sotto gli “occhi” delle videocamere. Un gesto di disprezzo, come sottolinea il gip nell’ordinanza che ha disposto i domiciliari. Alcuni degli indagati sono accusati di non avere impedito, in diverse e numerosi occasioni, pur avendo l’obbligo giuridico dì intervenire, che i pazienti compissero atti di autolesionismo. I disabili, disperati, sbattevano la testa sul pavimento provocandosi escoriazioni e lesioni e nessuno di loro interveniva.
Durante i turni i cinque indagati strattonavano i disabili facendogli sbattere la faccia al muro o colpendoli con un calcio per farli alzare dal letto. E poi insulti e maledizioni a raffica.
In un’occasione uno degli arrestati ha preso un bicchiere di plastica lo ha appoggiato sulla fronte di uno dei ragazzi disabili assistiti e lo ha colpito con uno schiaffo, schiacciandogli il bicchiere sulla fronte. “Una serie di condotte, scrive il gip, che ingeneravano nelle vittime un grave stato di paura e di timore per la propria incolumità fisica unitamente a creare, anche tra i pazienti che assistevano alle violenze perpetrate in danno degli altri ospiti, un clima diffuso di sopraffazione, prevaricazione e vessazione che rendeva impossibile la prosecuzione della convivenza”.
Le intercettazioni ambientali audio e video, effettuate 24 ore su 24 nella struttura, hanno documentato azioni sconcertanti, ben lontane dalla mission del centro assistenziale.
