26 novembre 2019 – Tragedia sul lavoro a Galatone (Lecce): quattro operai che stavano lavorando alla potatura degli alberi intorno la circonvallazione di Galatone sono stati investiti da un camion in transito.
Dalle prime ricostruzioni sembra che il camion abbia deviato verso la postazione degli operai a seguito dell’impatto con un’automobile, probabilmente causato da un sorpasso.
Le vittime del terribile incidente sono tre dei quattro operai coinvolti: Tony Mezzi, 35 anni; Luigi Casalucci, 64 anni e Pasquale Filieri, 62 anni, titolare della ditta. Morto anche il conducente della vettura.
Il quarto lavoratore, Gianni Benegiamo, è stato trasportato in codice rosso all’ospedale Vito Fazzi di Lecce. Sul luogo della strage stanno operando Vigili del Fuoco e Carabinieri. Sono presenti anche il Sindaco Flavio Filoni e i parenti delle vittime.
