Roma, 5 marzo 2021 – Anche in Italia, il sorpasso al femminile per quanto riguarda i medici è sempre più evidente. Lo dimostrano i dati elaborati, come ogni anno in occasione dell’8 marzo, dalla Federazione nazionale degli Ordini dei Medici Chirurghi e Odontoiatri (Fnomceo), dai quali emerge che le donne medico nel Servizio sanitario nazionale sono la maggioranza.
Gli uomini, tra i medici, sono ancora in vantaggio, ma si tratta di una maggioranza sempre più risicata: sono, infatti, il 55% del totale, e precisamente 218.226 contro 178.062 colleghe donne. Donne medico che costituiscono ormai la parte preponderante della forza lavoro nell’ambito del Servizio Sanitario Nazionale: considerando i medici con meno di 65 anni, e dunque sicuramente ancora in attività, il 54% è donna. E la percentuale sale rapidamente al calare dell’età: le dottoresse sono il 57% dei medici sotto i 60 anni, il 60% tra gli under 50.
Nella fascia d’età dai 40 ai 44 anni, in particolare, quasi 2 medici su 3, e precisamente il 64%, sono donne. La tendenza sembra normalizzarsi invece tra i nuovi iscritti, con meno di trent’anni, che sono ‘solo’ per il 56% donne. Eppure, nel complesso, l’onda rosa avanza: un anno fa, a marzo 2020, i medici uomini erano il 56% del totale. Appena cento anni fa, le donne medico erano circa duecento. Una femminilizzazione della professione medica, dunque, che diventerà ancora più evidente nei prossimi cinque anni, quando, afferma Fnomceo, secondo le proiezioni, avverrà il ‘sorpasso’ vero e proprio, anche sul totale dei medici. Dunque, afferma il presidente Fnomceo Filippo Anelli, “occorre un cambio di passo, perché non ricada soltanto sulla donna la gestione della famiglia e dei più fragili, ma tale responsabilità sia condivisa a livello familiare e sociale: la parità di genere passa anche da questa via. E passa da questa via la possibilità per le professioniste di dedicarsi alla carriera senza dover sacrificare la vita privata e gli affetti. In questo senso potrebbero essere utilizzati i fondi che l’Ue mette a disposizione per colmare il Gender Gap e quelli dedicati alla parità di genere del Recovery plan”. Inoltre, rileva, “occorre, ad esempio, che si modifichino i contratti, introducendo modalità flessibili di impiego”.
