Roma, 15 settembre 2021 – Dopo anni di battaglie legali, riapre il cantiere per realizzare “L’isola che non c’è”, il progetto di pedonalizzazione di Via Puglie a Roma. Nato nel 2007 con l’obiettivo di offrire ai circa duemila studenti romani uno spazio da vivere e condividere, da mesi il cantiere era stato chiuso a causa di un ricorso presentato da un gruppo di cittadini contrari al progetto di riqualificazione urbana. Ad agosto però il Consiglio di Stato ha respinto l’istanza e così i lavori sono potuti riprendere.
Il progetto e la battaglia legale sono stati portati avanti con determinazione dal Municipio I Roma Centro, con il forte appoggio delle comunità territoriali e scolastiche e, soprattutto, dell’I.C. Regina Elena e dell’Associazione Amici dell’IC Regina Elena.
“Riteniamo sia simbolica e di buon augurio la circostanza che il cantiere sia stato riaperto proprio in questi giorni, contestualmente al rientro a scuola. Infatti, e prima di tutto, è per i bambini e per le bambine, per i ragazzi e le ragazze che quotidianamente animano questa strada, che sin dall’inizio abbiamo creduto fortemente in questo progetto. È uno spazio che va vissuto quotidianamente in modo sostenibile, un’agorà pensata per la comunità scolastica e per la comunità di quartiere, per le famiglie e per gli anziani”, ha dichiarato Innocenza Spinozzi, Presidente dell’Associazione Amici dell’IC Regina Elena.
