Tra i beneficiari circa il 30% è rappresentato dai cosiddetti “nuovi poveri”, che per la prima volta hanno sperimentato condizioni di disagio e di deprivazione economica tali da dover chiedere aiuto. Tra gli assistiti nel periodo marzo-maggio prevalgono i disoccupati, le persone con impiego irregolare fermo a causa delle restrizioni imposte dal lockdown, i lavoratori dipendenti in attesa della cassa integrazione ordinaria o in deroga e i lavoratori precari o intermittenti che, al momento della presa in carico, non godevano di ammortizzatori sociali. E’ quanto si legge nel Rapporto Povertà di Caritas Italiana.
