La Gdf del Comando provinciale della Spezia ha eseguito 8 ordinanze di custodia cautelare di cui 7 in carcere e uno ai domiciliari e hanno sottoposto a sequestro preventivo oltre 900 mila euro in un’operazione condotta tra Spezia, Savona, Ancona e Carrara, disarticolando una banda dedita al caporalato. La Gdf è partita da una serie di controlli in materia di lavoro nei confronti di una società con oltre 150 dipendenti, perlopiù extracomunitari di provenienza bengalese, operante presso importanti cantieri spezzini che realizzano yacht di lusso individuando lo sfruttamento di decine di operai bengalesi che venivano minacciati, picchiati e offesi e pagati 4 o 5 euro l’ora e sottoposti a turni di lavoro massacranti in mansioni lavorative pericolose, come la saldatura, e nocive, come la verniciatura. Grazie alle indagini capillari, la Gdf ha scoperto il particolare sistema adoperato dai caporali: tutte le buste paga e i relativi versamenti risultavano, ad un primo controllo, conformi ma una volta pagate le buste paga con bonifici bancari, pretendevano, anche con l’uso della violenza e la minaccia della perdita del posto di lavoro, la restituzione, in contanti, di parte dello stipendio costringendo gli operai a continui prelievi al bancomat. Il meccanismo era stato studiato da un consulente del lavoro di Ancona che predisponeva false buste paga con il minimo dei contributi previdenziali. Al termine delle indagini, su proposta della locale Procura, il gip ha disposto la custodia cautelare nei confronti degli 8 membri della banda e il sequestro dei beni a loro riconducibili, per un valore di circa 1 milione di euro, tra quote societarie, immobili e autovetture. Misura cautelare del “Controllo giudiziario” nei confronti dell’azienda che sfruttava gli operai, per salvaguardare la posizione lavorativa delle maestranze.
