20 aprile 2022 – Ieri pomeriggio il ministro del Lavoro e delle Politiche Sociali, Andrea Orlando ha incontrato una delegazione del collettivo delle lavoratrici e dei lavoratori indiani sikh provenienti dalla zona pontina, dove vive una comunità di circa 30mila persone che lavora da diversi anni nel nostro Paese.
“Le storie di molte di queste donne e uomini – ha detto Orlando – testimoniano purtroppo diritti negati, sfruttamento, illegalità e mancato rispetto di ogni elementare regola di tutela della salute e della sicurezza sul luogo di lavoro. Molti di loro, nonostante la grande condizione di vulnerabilità hanno trovato il coraggio di denunciare e ci sono attualmente varie indagini in corso, ma non è sufficiente. Anche per questo – ha concluso il ministro – deve proseguire il nostro sforzo nell’attuazione del Piano triennale di contrasto al caporalato in agricoltura, che tra l’altro prevede interventi specifici per aumentare la consapevolezza dei lavoratori e intensificare e qualificare l’attività di vigilanza con anche il supporto dei mediatori culturali”.
