Un sito web americano, “Nature for the blind” , con l’ormai immancabile pagina Facebook, raccoglie oltre 200 percorsi all’aperto fruibili dai non vedenti tra tour dedicati, sentieri facilmente percorribili e giardini sensoriali sparsi in 35 Paesi di tutto il mondo, dall’Australia al Canada passando per l’Asia, l’America Latina e l’Europa, Italia compresa. Fondamentali la volontà e l’impulso di Evan Barnard, un ragazzo da sempre appassionato di natura, che ha iniziato a collaborare con la comunità ipovedente Usa all’età di dodici anni, nel 2010, quando aiutò a risistemare il sentiero Big Pine Braille, nella foresta Marshall, i cui pannelli in rilievo erano stati rubati. Volontario per il Georgia Council of the blind (Consiglio dei ciechi), si è poi adoperato per dar vita al Whispering Woods Braille Trail: corde guida per indicare il percorso, cartelli tattili, nessun ostacolo in cui poter inciampare e la possibilità di accarezzare e annusare alberi e piante sono stati i piccoli trucchi per renderlo accessibile alle persone non vedenti e non solo. Da qui la curiosità di voler capire cosa succedesse al di fuori degli Stati Uniti. Nel nostro Paese naturefortheblind.com segnala due itinerari accessibili ai non vedenti, uno in Trentino Alto Adige e l’altro in Friuli Venezia Giulia: il primo all’interno del parco naturale PuezOdle, partendo dal parcheggio della malga Zannes in Val di Funes, in provincia di Bolzano, mentre il secondo è il sentiero Pian dei Ciclamini dentro il parco naturale delle Prealpi Giulie, con partenza dall’hotel Ai Ciclamini di Lusevera, in provincia di Udine. Entrambi sono percorribili anche dalle carrozzine. Poi vengono indicati il Giardino sensoriale dell’Orto botanico di Lucca e il Museo tattile e olfattivo dell’Orto botanico di Napoli.
