Roma, 29 ottobre 2020 – È stato dedicato un francobollo in occasione dei 200 anni dalla nascita di Florence Nightingale, la donna che diede vita all’infermieristica in senso moderno. Parliamo appunto della professione infermieristica che in tempi di covid ha attirato l’attenzione della collettività nazionale.
L’affrancatura (valida per la posta ordinaria) mostra in primo piano, sullo sfondo di Ponte Vecchio a Firenze, il ritratto di Florence Nightingale con uno dei diagrammi da lei compilato durante la Guerra di Crimea; in alto è riprodotto il logo della Federazione Nazionale degli Ordini delle Professioni Infermieristiche (FNOPI).
Florence Nightingale, inglese, è nata però in Italia, a Firenze, il 12 maggio 1820. La ricorrenza del bicentenario della nascita ha spinto l’OMS (Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanita’) a proclamare il 2020 come ‘”anno internazionale dell’Infermiere”’.
Alla Federazione Nazionale degli Ordini delle Professioni Infermieristiche – come ricorda il presidente Barbara Mangiacavalli nel bollettino illustrativo dell’emissione del francobollo – sono iscritti 452.712 infermieri che in maggioranza lavorano nei servizi sanitari pubblici (270mila) costituendo il 42% della forza lavoro del Servizio Sanitario Nazionale.
