5 novembre 2019 – In 20 anni, grazie alla legge approvata nel 1999, le donazioni di organi sono raddoppiate. Lo sottolinea il Centro Nazionale Trapianti (Cnt) in vista delle celebrazioni dell’anniversario, dal 6 all’8 novembre. L’attività di donazione, sottolinea il comunicato del Cnt, è aumentata del 94%, mentre i trapianti sono cresciuti del 58%. Nel 1998 le liste d’attesa includevano 13mila pazienti, mentre ora sono meno di 9mila, e complessivamente sono diminuiti i tempi medi di attesa per un trapianto: nel caso del rene, l’organo più trapiantato, oggi un paziente aspetta in media 24 mesi contro i 36 del 2002. Anche l’attività del trapianto di cellule staminali emopoietiche ha segnato una crescita esponenziale: i donatori al registro Ibmdr sono aumentati del 132% e il numero di trapianti da donatori volontari non consanguinei è passato dai 133 del 1999 agli 848 del 2018. Il 7 novembre Michele La Ginestra e Arianna Ciampoli condurranno un evento celebrativo che coinvolgerà, attraverso video, interviste e momenti di spettacolo, i protagonisti della Rete trapianti, che sarà trasmesso in diretta streaming su www.trapianti.salute.gov e www.statigeneralitrapianti.it. L’evento fa parte del programma degli Stati generali dei trapianti, che dal 6 all’8 novembre riuniranno a Roma oltre 500 operatori del Servizio sanitario nazionale. “In questo settore stiamo assistendo a una importante evoluzione dei processi, delle pratiche cliniche e degli assetti organizzativi”, spiega il direttore del Cnt Massimo Cardillo. “Gli Stati Generali coinvolgeranno tutti i professionisti della nostra rete con l’obiettivo di costruire strategie rinnovate per incentivare la donazione e per rispondere sempre meglio alle esigenze di cura di pazienti affetti da insufficienza d’organo terminale”.
