La denuncia depositata oggi è solo l’ultima “di una lunga lista – spiega Alessandro D’Amone dell’Esecutivo Usb – ed è relativa al Reparto Treno Lamiere. Sono 4000 le tonnellate di amianto riscontrate in fabbrica in base all’ultimo censimento che risale a diversi anni fa ad opera del commissario straordinario Enrico Bondi, ma poi ci sono stati altri ritrovamenti in diverse zone dello stabilimento siderurgico. Ribadiamo l’esigenza di riconoscere l’esposizione a lavoro usurante anche successivamente all’ultimo censimento delle sostanze in questione. Usb ha anche inserito questo passaggio nella piattaforma presentata al precedente Governo”. Per tutta la superficie dei forni sono disseminate “numerose tubazioni – conclude il sindacato – rivestite da materiale coibentante risalente all’epoca della loro costruzione e si può parlare di fibre minerali oggi definite cancerogene, ricoperte da strutture metalliche, atte a contenere la fuoriuscita delle stesse fibre. Queste strutture contenitive sono in più parti divelte, usurate, non garantiscono più il contenimento delle fibre e in più parti sono addirittura visibili ad occhio nudo”.
