5 maggio 2022 – La Corte europea dei diritti umani (Cedu) ha pronunciato 4 nuove condanne nei confronti dello Stato italiano a causa delle emissioni dell’Ilva di Taranto, responsabili di mettere a rischio la salute dei cittadini. Le condanne riguardano i ricorsi presentati tra il 2016 e il 2019 da alcuni dipendenti dell’impianto siderurgico oltre che da oltre 200 abitanti di Taranto e di alcuni comuni vicini. Nelle sentenze emesse oggi la Cedu sottolinea che l’Italia è stata già condannata per lo stesso motivo nel gennaio 2019 e che da allora questo caso è all’esame davanti al comitato dei ministri del Consiglio d’Europa che deve verificare se il Paese ha messo in atto tutte le misure necessarie per salvaguardare la salute degli abitanti.
Le Cedu evidenzia che l’anno scorso il comitato dei ministri ha stabilito che “le autorità italiane non avevano fornito informazioni precise sulla messa in atto effettiva del piano ambientale, un elemento essenziale per assicurare che l’attività dell’acciaieria non continui a rappresentare un rischio per la salute”.
Dalla documentazione del comitato dei ministri risulta che il governo italiano ha presentato lo scorso 5 aprile nuovi elementi sull’attuazione del piano ambientale in vista di un nuovo esame del caso il prossimo giugno.
