Cresce ancora il divario tra le fasce più ricche e quelle più povere della popolazione: il 10% degli italiani con i redditi più alti – si legge sulle ultime statistiche pubblicate su Eurostat riferite al 2018 – può contare su oltre un quarto dei redditi totali (il 25,1%) al livello top dal 2008 quando era il 23,8% mentre il 10% con i redditi più bassi ha appena il 2% del totale, percentuale invariata rispetto al 2017, ma molto inferiore al 2,6% del 2008. Per i più benestanti la crescita dal 2017 al 2018 è stata di 0,7 punti percentuali (era al 24,4%). Il 20% della popolazione con i redditi più bassi può contare solo sul 6,6% del reddito complessivo, meno di quello che entra nelle case del 2% con i redditi più alti (8,3% del totale). L’1% più benestante della popolazione conta sul 5,1% del reddito, in crescita sia rispetto al 2017 (era il 5%) sia rispetto al 2008 (era al 4,8%) mentre il 20% più ricco sfiora il 40% del reddito complessivo (in crescita dal 39,4% del 2017) al top dal 2008 (quando era 38,6%). Non sono disponibili ancora i dati per tutti i Paesi nel 2018 ma se si guarda alla media Ue nel 2017 il divario è meno ampio di quello italiano (con il 2,8% dei redditi al decile più povero e il 23,9% al decile più ricco). Tra i dati disponibili per il 2018 l’Italia è il Paese dopo la Romania con la quota più bassa di reddito che entra nelle case del decile più povero.
