Roma, 10 maggio 2022 – Quasi 2 milioni di bambini e ragazzi con meno di 17 anni in Italia soffrono di disturbi neuropsichici dell’età evolutiva. Patologie, la cui incidenza è in costante aumento: in meno di dieci anni è raddoppiato il numero di bambini e adolescenti seguiti nei servizi di Neuropsichiatria dell’Infanzia e dell’Adolescenza e con l’arrivo della pandemia la situazione è ulteriormente peggiorata.
A lanciare l’allarme è la Società Italiana di Neuropsichiatria dell’Infanzia e dell’Adolescenza (SINPIA) che, in occasione dei 50 anni dalla sua fondazione, ha lanciato per l’11 maggio la Giornata Nazionale per la Promozione del Neurosviluppo.
“La prevalenza raddoppiata dei disturbi neuropsichici è certamente espressione di un trend già presente nei dieci anni precedenti, la pandemia ha però mostrato come una diminuzione delle attenzioni collettive ai bisogni neuropsichici di bambini e adolescenti possa avere conseguenze drammatiche sulla loro salute mentale e sul loro sviluppo complessivo, in particolare per coloro che già presentavano vulnerabilità”, ha commentato Antonella Costantino, past-president della SINPIA e direttore dell’Unità Operativa di Neuropsichiatria dell’Infanzia e dell’Adolescenza all’Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico di Milano.
