Ha una voce bellissima. C’era da aspettarselo da un attore. Franco Trevisi ha studiato recitazione al Piccolo Teatro di Milano, quello fondato da Strehler e ha lavorato con i grandi: da Fo a Ronconi, in teatro, da Fellini a Bertolucci a Lizzani, al cinema. Per citare soltanto alcuni nomi fra i tanti che hanno accompagnato la sua carriera, che passa anche attraverso alcune serie televisive, come La piovra, Distretto di Polizia e Don Matteo. Il contatto con l’ANMIL? Lui è un iscritto della prima ora perché, quando era ancora un ragazzo, ha avuto un incidente sul lavoro in una fabbrica di Carpi, nel modenese. Stava costruendo, in serie, il pupazzo di grido negli anni Sessanta, Topo Gigio. Ma il resto della storia preferisco farlo raccontare al protagonista.
– Prima l’infortunio sul lavoro e poi il lavoro di attore. C’è una relazione fra questi due momenti della sua vita?
Non c’è una relazione diretta. Quando ero ragazzo, d’estate andavo a lavorare in una fabbrica che produceva oggetti di plastica per guadagnarmi la vacanza al mare e ho lasciato la mano sinistra nella pressa, che mi ha rovinato e staccato il dito mignolo. Un incidente che mi ha segnato parecchio e mi ha creato un vero e proprio complesso. Mi sembrava che tutti mi guardassero e si accorgessero che mi mancava un dito. Per fortuna ho avuto una famiglia che mi ha protetto. 
Ricordo che ho sofferto non solo moralmente, ma anche fisicamente. Ho anche pensato al suicidio e poi, piano piano, mi sono reso conto che la gente non guardava la mia mano. E poiché gli incidenti sul lavoro sono purtroppo all’ordine del giorno, sono contento di condividere la mia esperienza perché credo possa essere un invito a tutti gli infortunati sul lavoro a superare le difficoltà e a non abbattersi troppo. Nella vita si riparte sempre e c’è sempre una soluzione. Ho infatti continuato a studiare e ad amare il cinema e la musica, come prima dell’infortunio e dopo l’esame di maturità ho lasciato Carpi, la mia terra natale e sono andato a Milano per iscrivermi all’università. Il fatto di essere invalido mi ha consentito, grazie alle agevolazioni di legge, di trovare presto un lavoro in banca. Avevo 20 anni e, poiché l’ambiente non mi sembrava particolarmente stimolante, ho chiesto al mio istituto di girare l’Europa, anche perché conoscevo bene le lingue. Ed è stato proprio in quel momento che mi si è aperto un mondo: Francia, Germania, Inghilterra. Andavo sempre a teatro e ho scoperto la mia vera vocazione: quella di fare l’attore. La recitazione, come la musica e il ballo, è uno strumento per mettere la nostra mente e il nostro corpo in comunicazione con il mondo. Consiglierei a molti malati di utilizzare queste tecniche anche a scopo terapeutico.
– Quando è diventato socio dell’ANMIL?
Subito dopo essermi infortunato. Vivevo in Emilia e noi emiliani non stiamo mai con le mani in mano. Ho scoperto ben presto che c’era questa Associazione. Me ne hanno parlato a Carpi, dove l’ANMIL era conosciuta già allora. E così mi sono iscritto, quando ero ancora un ragazzo.
– La sua invalidità le ha creato problemi nel lavoro di attore?
No, assolutamente. Posso dire che il dito rovinato, grazie ad una eccellente operazione, non si vedeva. Ricordo che una volta, durante un film del regista francese Chouraqui, ho dovuto subire una finta amputazione ad un dito. Curioso, vero?
– Quanto è importante la propria realizzazione per superare un handicap fisico?
Oggi posso vedere, con gli occhi del presente, che sono stato fortunato perché, al di là dell’infortunio, sono riuscito a fare quello che volevo nella vita. E non è poco. Chi ha invalidità più grandi di quella che ho riportato io – e deve vivere con quello che gli viene riconosciuto – spesso deve superare, oltre le difficoltà fisiche, anche problemi economici. Ritengo che, ancora oggi, non venga riconosciuto un giusto risarcimento agli invalidi del lavoro.
– Qual è la cosa che le piace di più del suo lavoro?
(Prima di rispondere Franco Trevisi canticchia “La prima cosa bella”, una vecchia canzone dei “Ricchi e Poveri”, ndr) La prima cosa bella che ho avuto dalla vita…sono le prove. Aggiungo che spero di morire “sano” in palcoscenico o davanti alla macchina da presa. Ma il momento più bello in assoluto è ancora più intimo: quando mi viene dato il copione e lo leggo per la prima volta. È questo il momento in cui prendo il primo contatto con il mio personaggio. Non devo avere nessuno attorno, neppure il mio cane (che sento abbaiare in sottofondo, ndr) e devo restare solo con il mio mondo. È un po’ come vedere la luce per la prima volta e incontrare quel personaggio, che sei tu e non sei tu. 
– Il momento più bello della sua vita e quello più brutto?
Comincio dal più brutto. Ero a New York per lavoro quando è morto mio padre e non sono riuscito a vederlo, prima che spirasse, perché il mio aereo ha subito un ritardo di sette ore a causa del maltempo. Per quanto riguarda il momento più bello, posso dire – anche rischiando di essere banale – che ogni età della vita ha i suoi momenti migliori e peggiori. Ho avuto una infanzia bellissima: ho vissuto in campagna e, anche se la mia era una famiglia povera, sono cresciuto giocando e cantando, dalla mattina alla sera, con tanti altri bambini. Ricordo che i miei cugini vivevano a Modena e, per rientrare a casa la sera, dovevano chiedere le chiavi ai loro genitori. Io invece sono sempre stato libero.
– Fa attività per l’ANMIL?
Con l’ANMIL ho preso contatto recentemente e mi sono detto disponibile a dare il mio contributo. Farò quello che mi verrà chiesto e che sarà prioritario per l’Associazione.
– Quanto è importante per lei la prevenzione?
Penso che sia la cosa più importante nella vita, in tutti i suoi aspetti, a cominciare dalla comunicazione. Qualunque cosa tu intenda fare, devi essere preparato. Ma non credo che la preparazione sia sempre possibile nella società di oggi, che presenta aspetti che vorrei definire “oscurantisti”. Soprattutto quando si parla di sicurezza, prevenire è fondamentale perché “dopo” potrebbe essere troppo tardi. Se ripenso al mio incidente sul lavoro, ricordo che, essendo pagato a cottimo, non ho usato il dispositivo di sicurezza perché mi avrebbe fatto perdere tempo.
– C’è una domanda che non le ho fatto e a cui le piacerebbe rispondere?
Ci sarebbe tanto da dire per un emiliano che vive a Roma. Quando sono arrivato qui per lavoro, nel 1978, mi sembrava di essere in paradiso. Ma oggi non è più così. Ho girato il mondo e ho girato l’Italia e ho trovato un senso civico che a Roma manca. Non credo che sia una questione politica, ma di qualità degli uomini.
– Vuole inviare un messaggio alle vittime del lavoro?
Vorrei invitare ogni lavoratore ad utilizzare tutti gli strumenti di sicurezza a sua disposizione. Sento parlare di incidenti sul lavoro, il più delle volte, in occasione di grandi eventi. Il tema dovrebbe invece entrare nella coscienza quotidiana. E dovremmo essere proprio noi, vittime del lavoro, a parlare per prime di prevenzione, in un mondo che non se ne occupa.
