Roma, 6 maggio – Tra pochi giorni, in data 9 maggio 2021, sarà finalmente avviata la Conferenza sul futuro dell’Europa. In vista dell’evento, Eurofound ha passato in rassegna le criticità afferenti al mercato del lavoro che le istituzioni europee sono chiamate ad affrontare.

La pandemia da Covid-19, in realtà, ha alimentato le tensioni già esistenti nel mercato del lavoro europeo: l’ampio divario generazionale da cui origina la disoccupazione e l’occupazione instabile dei più giovani; la disuguaglianza di genere e soprattutto, nonostante i timidi progressi, gli eccessivi oneri familiari in capo alle donne e il divario retributivo rispetto agli uomini; l’ampia diffusione del lavoro instabile e atipico, particolarmente frequente proprio fra i giovani lavoratori e le lavoratrici e diffuso proprio in questi settori maggiormente colpiti dalla crisi economica scaturita dalla pandemia (turismo, spettacolo, sport, ecc.).
Oltre a questi fattori, bisogna pensare che l’ampio impiego dello smart working durante la pandemia ha aperto importanti opportunità occupazionali, soprattutto per i lavoratori con maggiori esigenze di conciliazione vita-lavoro, ma, al contempo, ha sollevato numerose sfide riguardo, ad esempio, il diritto di disconnessione e il rischio di isolamento.
La sfida per l’Europa è certamente il ripristino dei livelli occupazionali, ma non è sufficiente “riprendersi” dalla crisi.
