Un grosso incendio si è sviluppato nel pomeriggio del 24 febbraio nello stabilimento Arcelor Mittal di Taranto. Per cause probabilmente accidentali, fiamme si sono sprigionate nel reparto CCO1 colata continua del nuovo altoforno. La notizia è stata diffusa sul profilo personale Facebook del coordinatore provinciale dell’Unione sindacale di base, Francesco Rizzo. Non vi siano state conseguenze per le persone. “Questa è la ‘sicurezza’ che la multinazionale garantisce ai lavoratori dell’ex Ilva”, scrive Rizzo in un comunicato stampa diffuso in seguito all’accaduto nel quale si dichiara: “Si tratta di un rogo di grosse dimensioni. Abbiamo inviato il video relativo al ministro Patuanelli e ai parlamentari jonici, nonché al sottosegretario alla Presidenza del Consiglio, senatore Mario Turco. Le immagini dimostrano che si vive una condizione di pericolo costante nella fabbrica. Il Governo dovrebbe intervenire al più presto per costruire un’alternativa economica seria. Non è possibile vivere ogni giorno pensando di poter perdere la vita o per la mancata sicurezza sul lavoro o per le malattie che l’inquinamento prodotto dall’industria causa. Lo ripetiamo con insistenza: è tempo di agire”.
