La Commissione Amianto è coordinata dal Vice Presidente nazionale Emidio Deandri (Taranto) e composta da: Alberti Alberto (Ferrara), Elio Balistrieri (Alessandria), Giuseppe D’Ercole (Roma), Luigi Feliciani (Bergamo), Daniele Manetti (Pistoia), Patrizia Sannino (Campania), Francesco Tolu (Nuoro) e Silvana Zambonini (Roma).
La nuova Commissione per l’Amianto e i Tumori professionali, sin dall’insediamento, si riunisce settimanalmente. Attraverso questi incontri, la Commissione ha avuto modo di mettere in comune le competenze ed esperienze individuali creando così una rete di conoscenze condivise sulle problematiche relative all’amianto che costituisce, tutt’oggi, la maggiore causa di morbilità e mortalità sia rispetto agli infortuni mortali che ai tumori professionali causati da altre sostanze cancerogene utilizzate in azienda. La lunga latenza tra il tempo dell’esposizione alle sostanze cancerogene e la manifestazione delle patologie neoplastiche riduce l’impatto emotivo sull’opinione pubblica e la consapevolezza della drammaticità della situazione. Rispetto ai 15.000 tumori professionali attesi all’anno, come dichiarato dal Ministero della Salute, appena 2.000 vengono denunciati e solo 1.000 indennizzati.
Ciò significa che 14.000 persone e famiglie non hanno alcuna tutela e, considerando che oltre il 50% di questi casi comporta esiti mortali entro un anno, nessuna assistenza viene prevista nel dramma dei decessi.
A fronte di questi dati la Commissione per l’Amianto ANMIL intende promuovere un programma di lavoro incisivo e continuativo nella difesa e nella tutela delle persone e delle famiglie vittime dei tumori professionali per via della specificità della sua missione. Questo programma dovrà essere sviluppato partendo dal coinvolgimento dei COR, un’attività già avviata da alcune sezioni che darà certamente i suoi frutti.
